About the FixMyScan Editor
The guides on this site are written and checked by the FixMyScan Editor, the role responsible for every page's facts, sources and corrections.
Key takeaways
- Every guide is published under the FixMyScan Editor byline, a role at FixMyScan, not a named person.
- Facts come from one checked list of sources, and every claim about another product links to that product's own page.
- When a fact can't be confirmed, the page says "not checked" instead of guessing.
- Pages show the date they were last updated, and corrections go to support@fixmyscan.com.
What FixMyScan is
FixMyScan turns scanned books into PDFs that read well on an e-reader. You upload a scanned PDF or DjVu file of up to 1,000 pages, set one crop for the whole book, and get back a PDF with white pages, black text and hidden searchable text, with every page still in its place. How it works has the full picture.
The guides on this site exist because the same questions come up again and again from people reading scans on a Kindle, Kobo or reMarkable: why the text is tiny, why the file won’t send, why search finds nothing. Each guide tries to answer one of those questions properly, including the parts FixMyScan doesn’t solve.
Who the FixMyScan Editor is
The FixMyScan Editor is the role that writes, checks and updates the guides. It is not a pen name for a person who doesn’t exist, and we don’t attach invented names or photos to pages. The people behind it work on FixMyScan, and the byline makes clear that a guide comes from the company that makes the product rather than from an independent reviewer.
How we write a guide
- Start from a real question. Topics come from what people actually search for and ask in forums about scanned books and e-readers.
- Answer first. The answer goes in the first lines, then the steps, then the detail.
- Check every fact. Product facts, device limits and prices come from one checked list of sources. Device limits link to the maker’s own page, such as Amazon’s Send to Kindle page for the 200 MB website limit.
- Mark what we couldn’t confirm. If a competitor’s page doesn’t state something, we write “not checked” rather than fill the gap from memory.
- Keep it short. No filler, and no claim repeated just to pad a page.
How we treat other products
Many guides compare FixMyScan with other tools, from free desktop software such as OCRmyPDF and ScanTailor Advanced to paid apps. We say where another tool is the better choice, for example a handwriting tool for handwritten letters, or a free command-line tool for someone who wants to script a batch.
Every fact about another product links to that product’s own website. Prices are given in the currency the product’s page showed when we checked, with the date, and we don’t convert them. Ratings are given with the number of reviews behind them.
Who the guides are for
Most readers arrive with one scanned book and one device: a library scan of an out-of-print title, a textbook scanned for study, a family history from an archive, or their own shelf scanned at home. The guides assume no technical background. Where a free tool needs the command line, we say so, and where a device already has a setting that helps, we point to it before suggesting anything else.
What we never do
- Invent reviews, testimonials, ratings or results.
- Name an author who doesn’t exist.
- Make speed promises we haven’t measured.
- Hide text from readers that search engines can see.
Updates and corrections
Each page shows the date of its last real edit. We don’t change the date without changing the page. Comparison pages are rechecked regularly, because prices and features move.
If you find a mistake, email support@fixmyscan.com with the page address and what’s wrong. If we confirm it, we fix the page and update the date.

Questions
Is the FixMyScan Editor a real person?
It is a role, not a pen name for an invented person. The FixMyScan team writes and checks the guides under that byline.
Are the comparison pages neutral?
They are written by FixMyScan, so FixMyScan appears in them. Every fact about another product comes from that product's own page, linked beside the claim, and anything we couldn't confirm is marked "not checked".
Why do the guides mention FixMyScan?
Because FixMyScan publishes them, and many of the problems they cover are ones it fixes. Each guide also covers the free and manual ways to solve the same problem.
How often are pages updated?
When a fact changes, and at least every few months for comparison pages. The updated date at the top of each page shows the last real edit.
How do I report a mistake?
Email support@fixmyscan.com with the page address and what is wrong. Confirmed mistakes are fixed and the updated date changes.
Is FixMyScan connected to Amazon or Kindle?
No. FixMyScan is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon. Kindle is a trademark of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
